Overview
If these eight modifiable risk factors were controlled, over 90% of all heart attacks and cerebral infarctions could be prevented.
However, it goes without saying that the control of the eight risk factors is of absolutely crucial importance, especially after a heart attack or stroke has already occurred, in the so-called secondary prophylaxis.
All eight risk factors that can be influenced (hypercholesterolemia, nicotine abuse, stress, arterial hypertension, obesity, diabetes mellitus, lack of exercise, unhealthy diet) are covered by Preventive Cardiology USZ:
- Outpatient cardiac rehabilitation
- Special consultation for lipid metabolism disorders
- Special consultation for arterial hypertension
- Special consultation for sports and exercise cardiology (risk factors lack of exercise and overweight)
- Special consultation for psychocardiology (risk factor stress)
- Smokers’ consultation
