Point-of-Care diagnostics

To prevent loss of time and distability of the sample during transport (e.g. blood gases), laboratory diagnostics at USZ are also performed directly at the bedside by non-laboratory staff of the clinics with the help of small dedicated devices.

To ensure quality, this point-of-care testing (POCT) is coordinated by the POCT representative of the USZ, Ms Susanna Zürrer. She is assisted by the POCT committee, whose members include representatives from the central clinical laboratories (including the IKC).
