For the detection of osteomyelitis, infectious arthritis or a periprosthetic infection in the extremities. (For other locations, an FDG-PET / CT or FDG-PET / MR is recommended).

The examination proper starts with an injection of the radioactive tracer needed for this examination. The substance will bind to activated inflammatory cells. The first scans will be performed 5 hours following the injection, a second scan is scheduled 24 hours following the injection. Each scan will last about one hour.
No side effects are to be expected. Please inform us, if you suffer from any allergies.
The radiation dose of the examination is comparable to one to two times the natural yearly radiation dose in Zurich. The examination can also be performed in children.
