The Department of Trauma Surgery specialises in the treatment of patients with severe and life-threatening injuries.
Its close cooperation with various emergency services, other surgical departments (Department of Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery, Burns Centre, Department of Neurosurgery, Department of Cranio-Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgery, Department of Visceral Surgery, Department of Thoracic Surgery and Department of Cardiovascular Surgery), Radiology, Anaesthesiology, and the intensive care unit ensures that patients receive holistic medical care of the highest quality. A team of experts is on call round the clock. State-of-the-art technology and an infrastructure specially designed for the care of seriously injured patients complement the integrated treatment concept.
The trauma centre has a shock trauma resuscitation room with an integrated computer tomography scanner. The emergency surgery zone is close by. This ensures that no time is lost and that patients are not placed under additional strain by being transported long distances. All necessary diagnostic procedures can be performed on site and are directly coordinated with emergency treatment. Further treatment is given in the intensive care unit for patients with serious injuries, where the traumatology team looks after patients in cooperation with the ICU staff.
This concept guarantees that patients receive integrated, highly specialised treatment and nursing care under one roof. Patients also have access to experts in all the university hospital’s other departments if necessary.
As a patient, you cannot register for a consultation directly. Please ask your family doctor, your specialist to refer you. Please use our contact form if you have any questions.
