Point of care diagnostics

To save time during sample transportation or sample instability (e.g. blood gases), laboratory diagnostics at the USZ are also carried out directly on patients by clinic staff using small devices.

To ensure quality, this point-of-care (POC) diagnostics program is coordinated by the USZ’s POCT coordinator. She is supported by the POCT Commission, which includes representatives from the field of clinical laboratory medicine, including those from the IKC.
