Department of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine

In our outpatient clinic, we offer our patients various specialized psychosomatic consultations, and in the Center for Eating Disorders we offer outpatient and inpatient therapies. The Center for Stress Disorders provides assessment and therapy for people with complaints caused by extreme psychological stress and trauma sequelae.

Cooperation with other USZ clinics is of particular importance. Our consultant service provides psychiatric and psychosomatic interventions in the other USZ clinics and provides acute psychiatric care for emergencies at the USZ. In the liaison service, our psychiatric and psychosomatic competencies at the interface of psyche and body complement the treatment and care teams.

The connections between psyche and soma are complex. Our internationally networked basic clinical and health care research helps us to better understand these relationships at all levels. This understanding serves to continually develop therapies for people who are impaired by a combination of psychosomatic, psychiatric, and physical illnesses and conditions.

In teaching, we pass on this knowledge to medical students at the University of Zurich, to our employees in continuing medical education, and as part of the ongoing training of specialists.
