EndoFLIP
With the help of EndoFLIP, a balloon-supported technique, the distensibility of the esophagus and the gastroesophageal junction is determined during an upper endoscopy (gastroscopy). The technology allows real-time visualization of the region under investigation in 2D and is pressure-, volume- and impedance-controlled. This technique is an extension/additional examination of high-resolution esophageal manometry for unclear findings, in particular for unclear swallowing disorders and dysphagia and as a follow-up/preliminary examination for gastroesophageal surgery (anti-reflux surgery). In addition to the oesophagus, the pylorus can be measured if gastric emptying disorders are suspected or proven in order to diagnose a possible pylorospasm.
EsoFLIP
The EsoFLP is the therapeutic version of the EndoFLIP. Here, a stiffer balloon is used to treat the corresponding constriction with millimeter precision in real time using computer support to control pressure and volume. The indications range from esophageal strictures, outflow disorders of the esophagus (typical and atypical achalasia, EGJ outflow obstruction), gastric emptying disorders and postoperative outflow problems to proximal small bowel.
