Developmental support for newborns

In the mother's womb, the child has the right environment to experience and train the movement possibilities of its body.

Due to the almost weightlessness in the amniotic fluid and the confines of the uterus, the unborn child can assume many different positions independently. It follows its mother’s movements and experiences its body with all its possibilities. Premature babies lack these weeks of movement experience.

Various studies show that even extremely premature babies have a good chance of normal development.

By using Kinaesthetics Infant Handling, children have the opportunity to learn and experience movement outside the womb. With targeted support, premature and newborn babies learn how to move from one position to another under gravity by shifting their own body weight. These movement experiences are the basis for positive psychomotor development.

The interprofessional specialist group for developmental support in neonatology raises awareness and trains all team members.

Together with the parents, the children are provided with a learning environment in which the individual resources of the newborns are recognized and specifically encouraged.

Parents are involved in the care of their children from an early stage. They learn how to organize everyday activities in a way that promotes movement. On leaving hospital, parents can “read” their child and feel confident in dealing with their child.
