Interdisciplinary Center for Vertigo and Neurological Visual Disorders

Dizziness and balance disorders are among the most common symptoms of all. The Interdisciplinary Center for Vertigo and Neurological Visual Disorders at the USZ serves to diagnose and treat the entire spectrum of balance disorders. Patients with complex dizziness complaints are assessed here and also accompanied during treatment in the case of long-term dizziness or balance and vision disorders.

The large number of possible causes requires close cooperation between specialists from different disciplines in order to ensure optimal diagnosis and treatment. The Vertigo Center is run by staff from the Clinic for Ear, Nose, Throat and Facial Surgery, the Clinic for Neurology, the Clinic for Consultative Psychiatry and Psychosomatics and the Institute for Physical Medicine.Vertigo In addition, the equipment resources of the Vestibulo-Oculomotor Laboratory of the Department of Neurology and the Otoneurology Department of the Department of Ear, Nose, Throat and Facial Surgery are combined in the center.

Depending on the clinical picture, dizziness is treated with different methods. Physical, medicinal, psychotherapeutic and – only in selected cases – surgical measures are used. Find out more about the treatment options for dizziness.
