High quality confirmed: CCCZ again honored by the German Cancer Society

Since its first certification in 2013, the Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich has been one of the established oncology reference centers in Switzerland.

The Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich (CCCZ) was once again certified by the German Cancer Society (DKG) as a comprehensive tumor center (oncology center). The specialist association has thus once again confirmed the high quality of oncological care in Zurich. The CCCZ combines oncology at the University Hospital Zurich (USZ), the Balgrist University Hospital and the University Children's Hospital Zurich. In addition, the University of Zurich (UZH) is an integral part of the CCCZ as a central academic partner. Together, these institutions form a cross-location center for excellent cancer medicine, research and teaching. The certification system of the German Cancer Society aims to ensure high-quality and patient-centered oncological care. The quality seal is awarded on the basis of strict criteria, including

• highly qualified medical and nursing staff
• the consistent application of medical guidelines and standards
• as well as close interdisciplinary cooperation between all departments involved

Treatment in a certified center has proven advantages for patients: The likelihood of survival increases and complications following surgery are less common. Since its first certification in 2013, the CCCZ has been one of the established oncology reference centers in Switzerland. In the current audit, the center was once again able to successfully meet all the high requirements of the German Cancer Society. The renewed recertification underlines the CCCZ's continuous commitment to the highest quality in cancer care and is recognition of the interdisciplinary cooperation across all participating sites.
