Application process

You can find all open positions in our job portal – from internships to specialist positions.
Use the filter options to search specifically for your specialist area, workload or location. We also offer a fast-track application for selected professions.

Tip: If you can’t find a suitable position, you can subscribe to our job newsletter to stay informed about vacancies.

We want to make the application process as simple as possible. Your online application only takes a few minutes.
You can apply directly via our portal. We need your CV, references and diplomas and, if you wish, a letter of motivation.
As soon as your documents have arrived, you will receive a confirmation of receipt by e-mail.

If your profile matches our profile, we will invite you to an interview – in person or virtually.

It’s all about getting to know each other:

  • What do you bring to this role?
  • What is important to you?
  • What do we offer you?

Depending on the role, the next step may include a second interview, an assessment or case study, or a trial day We want to give you a realistic look at your future role and find out together if we’re a great match.

Is it a match? At the end of the application process, both parties decide whether it is a good fit. Once we’re a match, we’ll prepare everything for your start with us.

As we are a public institution subject to cantonal personnel law, you will receive an employment decree from us. This will follow approximately two weeks after your acceptance. We will of course confirm the most important details in writing beforehand.

Second chance

If you are rejected during the application process – either by yourself or by us – this does not mean that a future career at the USZ is out of the question for you. Maybe it wasn’t the right time or the right position.

However, with over 120 professions and around 8,600 positions, there are always new opportunities. You can subscribe to our job newsletter here to make sure you never miss an opportunity.

Even before your first day at work, we will provide you with useful information about your start. During our Welcome Day, – the induction event on the first working day of the month – you’ll get to know the USZ alongside other new starters through a Foxtrail and receive your personal ID badge. Following this, your personalized onboarding within your team begins. Welcome to the USZ!
