Research with data and samples

The data and samples from patients are very valuable for research. You are therefore informed about the possible re-use of your data and samples at your hospital entrance and asked for your consent. This consent is voluntary. You can revoke your desicion at any time.

Information on illnesses and samples taken during a hospital stay are very valuable for research. On admission to hospital, patients therefore receive an information sheet informing them about the possible use of health data and samples for research purposes. On the last page of the information sheet you can inform us in writing whether you would like to make your health data and samples available for research. Your consent is voluntary and does not affect your treatment.

Have you changed your mind?

Once a decision has been made, it can be reversed at any time. If you wish to withdraw your consent, please let us know in writing. If possible, contact the clinic where you were treated.

Of course, you can also inform us if you have previously refused consent but would now like to give it. To do this, print out the information and consent form (PDF, in German), tick the appropriate answer and send it signed to the clinic where you were last treated or bring it with you to your next appointment.

Storage of samples in the USZ BioResource Biobank

Samples from you can be stored in the USZ BioResource Biobank and made available for research. This may apply if you have agreed to the above-mentioned information and consent form (so-called “USZ General Consent”). You may also have been informed in a research project that samples will be included in the biobank after the end of the study.
