Cutting-edge medicine for women and children

A perinatal center is a specialized facility that provides comprehensive care for pregnant women, newborns and especially premature babies around the time of birth. What makes it special is the close cooperation between experts from obstetrics, neonatology and other disciplines, who are on site around the clock.

At our Perinatal Center at the USZ, you will receive highly specialized care for pregnancy complications, high-risk pregnancies, premature births (before 32 weeks), very small children (under 1,500g birth weight) or babies with expected illnesses. Premature and sick newborns benefit enormously as they are cared for “door to door” by experienced specialists immediately after birth – including a state-of-the-art intensive care unit and family-oriented services. With us, the family is actively involved, parents can accompany their child from the very beginning, which promotes the parent-child bond.

Is a perinatal center suitable for all pregnant women?

Pregnant women receive the best possible medical safety in our perinatal center and are treated quickly and optimally in an emergency – regardless of whether the pregnancy has no complications or is a high-risk birth. We offer a relaxed, safe atmosphere for a natural birth – medical expertise is only available “in the background” without unnecessarily influencing the birth.

We conduct research into topics such as reducing blood loss and pelvic floor damage during childbirth, improved treatment of premature babies and children with malformations as well as modern regenerative therapies. As a patient, you have access to innovative treatment and care methods at the cutting edge of science.
