In the annual ranking published by Newsweek and Statista, six of our clinics shine as the best Swiss specialist clinic, underlining our high medical quality.
USZ clinics occupy top positions in Switzerland
The “World’s Best Specialized Hospitals” ranking evaluates twelve medical specialties. One of our clinics achieved the best ranking in Switzerland in six specialist areas. The Clinic for Cardiology is ranked an outstanding 26th worldwide, making it the best-ranked USZ clinic. In addition, the Clinic for Neurosurgery also performs best in its field throughout Switzerland. “We are extremely pleased that we were able to achieve the top position in the very first survey,” says Clinic Director Luca Regli. Cardiac Surgery, Urology, Diabetology and Clinical Nutrition as well as Medical Oncology and Hematology also achieved the best position among Swiss clinics in the respective world rankings.
The “World’s Best Specialized Hospitals” ranking
“World’s Best Specialized Hospitals” is an evaluation that Newsweek conducts annually in collaboration with the market research company Statista to identify the world’s leading hospitals in the various medical specialties. For the Ranking 2025, tens of thousands of medical experts were surveyed and relevant accreditations and certifications of the participating specialist clinics were collected. Medical performance indicators were also taken into account, such as the Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs). The result thus reflects the quality of medical care from a holistic perspective.
We are extremely pleased with this result. It recognizes the outstanding daily work of our teams in the treatment of complex diseases. Rankings such as this one or “The World’s Best Hospitals”, in which the University Hospital Zurich achieved an outstanding 10th place in 2025, can help patients choose the right hospital.
