This consultation hour deals with the following issues – if necessary also on an interdisciplinary basis:
Video-documented polysomnography is the most comprehensive examination of sleep available. Depending on the problem, polysomnography is supplemented with actigraphy (recording of the rest-activity rhythm over weeks), the multiple sleep latency test (measurement of daytime sleepiness), the multiple wakefulness test (assessment of sleep pressure), vigilance tests or blood chemistry, saliva (melatonin) or genetic tests.
Every Friday at 12.15 p.m., representatives of the pneumology sleep laboratory and the Department of Psychiatry meet in the sleep laboratory of the Department of Neurology to discuss interdisciplinary cases. The relevant patients are selected from the consultation hours or registered directly from outside for such an interdisciplinary meeting. Interdisciplinary diagnostic steps are organized and coordinated therapy recommendations are made and documented.
