Acute cardiology department

Acute cardiology at the University Heart Center in Zurich is divided into the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) and the Chest Pain Unit (CPU).

As Switzerland’s first certified monitoring ward, the IMCU acts as an important link between surgical/interventional procedures and follow-up care and is also involved in the emergency care of all cardiological conditions requiring monitoring at the USZ. As the clarification ward of the Andreas Grüntzig Cardiac Catheter Laboratories, the CPU plays an important role in the immediate diagnosis of patients with suspected heart attacks.
