Testicular cancer – interdisciplinary therapy

Close interdisciplinary collaboration between urology, oncology, radiation oncology but also pathology, radiology and vascular, visceral and thoracic surgery is crucial to achieve the best possible diagnosis, therapy and follow-up.

Overview

Testicular cancer is a rare disease, but the most common malignant tumor in young men. The excellent cure rates of this tumor disease are primarily based on adherence to the sometimes complex stage-adapted treatment guidelines. The certified Testicular Tumor Center of the University Hospital Zurich offers the platform for optimal care of testicular tumor patients with its interdisciplinary testicular tumor consultation and interdisciplinary tumor board, which is unique in Switzerland.

Possible therapies

  1. Surgical removal of part or all of the testis (with or without tissue removal for histological examination).
  2. Surgical removal of abdominal lymph nodes for metastatic testicular cancer.
  3. Drug therapy (chemotherapy) for high-risk and or metastatic testicular cancer.
