Procedure
An infusion is placed in the arm before the examination. Ultrasound is used to determine the appropriate site for the liver biopsy. After local anesthesia of the skin and muscles, a needle is inserted on the right side of the body between the lower ribs and tissue is removed from the underlying liver. This process only takes a few seconds. You will be monitored for at least four hours after the puncture and may occasionally experience slight pain. If necessary, you will be given a painkiller. An ultrasound check is carried out on the same day.
