Institute of Intensive Care Medicine

The Institute for Intensive Care Medicine at the USZ runs the largest intensive care unit in Switzerland with currently 64 beds. The various intensive care units provide round-the-clock care and nursing for critically ill patients and patients in life-threatening situations. Almost 4,500 patients are cared for annually across the entire spectrum of modern intensive care medicine.

Intensive care medicine at the University Hospital Zurich is divided into six main areas of intensive care medicine, which are treated in specialized departments.

We are continuously working on the further development and improvement of intensive care medicine in clinical research, basic research and nursing research.
