The original of the medical death certificate is sent to the civil registry office of the city of Zurich together with the notification of death.
The relatives receive from us:
- The medical death certificate (copy)
With this document, the next of kin report to the burial office of the deceased’s municipality of residence within the following two to three working days.
The next of kin discuss the details of the funeral with the responsible official at the civil status or burial office, e.g:
- Last wishes of the deceased person
- Type of burial, coffin or urn request
- Transportation options
The funeral office of the University Hospital Zurich is available by telephone or e-mail during opening hours to answer any questions relatives may have about the formalities.
