So that you know exactly what to expect, you can find detailed information about our application process at the link below. Depending on the role, the process may vary slightly. This helps us ensure the best possible match between the position and each candidate.

Registration in our application portal is very quick and easy. If you have your documents ready, you can usually submit your application in less than five minutes.

To start your application, we mainly need your CV and your diplomas. This gives us an initial overview of your profile. You are also welcome to upload a cover letter and/or employment references.

Note for applicants from abroad:

  • Please upload a copy of your residence permit.
  • Did you complete your education or training abroad?
  • In addition to your degree certificate, please also upload your diploma recognition.

Here you will find the most important information about clinical placements at USZ. The documents required for each clinic are listed individually.

Note for applicants from third countries:

  • Please upload a copy of your previous relevant diplomas and certificates.
  • Confirmation from SWIMSA is required before starting the placement.
  • In addition, we require confirmation of the internship placement (written approval from your university for an internship abroad or specifically at USZ).
    Please also provide your study programme/curriculum confirming that an internship is a required part of your studies and, where possible, specifying the scope and content of the internship.

After receiving your application confirmation, we kindly ask for your patience. The application process usually takes several weeks. Once we have reviewed your documents, we will get back to you as soon as possible.

For certain professional groups in the Nursing & MTTB Directorate, we accept fast-track applications via a simplified form. You can find the relevant professions directly in the drop-down list in the form.

Yes, depending on the application channel, you can proceed as follows:

  • Recruitment tool: After completing your application, no additional documents can be uploaded or exchanged for technical reasons. Please get in touch with the contact person from recruitment listed in the advertisement.
  • Quick application form: You can exchange or supplement the documents in your unsolicited application by sending an e-mail to willkommen@usz.ch.

If you wish to withdraw your application, you can proceed as follows:

Then set up a job alert tailored to your personal preferences. You will automatically be notified as soon as new positions in your area of interest are published.

Vacancies

Yes, you are welcome to apply for several positions. Your documents will be reviewed by the relevant departments and it is possible that you will be invited to several interviews.

EU and EFTA nationals benefit from the free movement of persons in Switzerland. Further information on the free movement of persons.

Nationals from non-EU/EFTA countries are subject to a permit approval process. Here you will find further information from the Canton of Zurich.

Please note that you will need very good German language skills (at least level B2 according to the German Goethe Institute) to work at the USZ.

Nurses who have completed their training abroad must have their diploma recognized by the Swiss Red Cross. For the application process, we recommend that you have already completed the PreCheck.

As a doctor (f/m/d), your medical diploma, specialist diploma (if available) and German language skills must be entered in the register of medical professions (MedReg). If you have completed your training abroad, you will also need a MEBEKO recognition for your medical diploma and specialist diploma. Further information on the recognition and language entry can be found here. If your diplomas are not directly recognized by the MEBEKO and a decision has been made by the MEBEKO that your diploma has been listed in the MedReg as a non-recognizable foreign diploma, we must obtain a permit from the Health Directorate of the Canton of Zurich for you to be employed.
