Just like the face, the neck also ages. This leads to slackening of the neck-skin muscle (platysma) and the formation of excess skin. Longitudinal bands and transverse neck folds can develop.
In many cases, a neck lift is performed in combination with a facelift, as the approach is sometimes the same.
Procedure
The neck muscles and the overlying skin are tightened via a short incision in front of and behind the ear up to and into the hairline. In some cases, an incision under the chin is also necessary to tighten the neck muscles in the middle and remove excess fatty tissue. During the operation, small drainage tubes are inserted, which are usually removed the next day.
Aftercare
The stitches are removed five to seven days after the operation.
