Dizziness: Physiotherapeutic treatment

If everyday activities cause problems and the quality of life is restricted, specific physiotherapy can help.

Vestibular physiotherapy

People who move little because of dizziness often fall into a vicious circle – because any activity causes dizziness, they move less and less and become even more immobile. This massively increases the risk of falls, especially for senior citizens.

Specific therapy is aimed at the following points:

  • Improving mobility and coordination in the legs and spine
  • Increase leg strength
  • Good gaze stabilization during head movement
  • Being able to move around safely in different environments

People with dizziness learn beneficial behaviors and active exercises that they can perform themselves. Other techniques (e.g. optokinetic training in front of the big screen) are used in therapy.

For patients

The therapy services are primarily available to patients of the USZ. The prescription for the therapy is issued and sent by your doctor. As a patient, you cannot register directly for a consultation/therapy.
