Systemic sclerosis: physiotherapy and occupational therapy treatment

Systemic sclerosis is a rare disease in which there is a progressive hardening of the connective tissue and changes to the blood vessels with circulatory disorders.

Therapy

Common complaints treated in physiotherapy and occupational therapy are a feeling of stiffness and restricted mobility in the joints, reduced strength and endurance, hardening of the skin, swelling of the limbs and restricted mouth opening. The same applies to the treatment of shortness of breath on exertion and fatigue (chronic tiredness). Individual advice on coping with everyday life, energy management, protection against the cold and improving musculoskeletal complaints is an important part of the therapy.

For patients

The therapy services are primarily available to patients of the USZ. The prescription for the therapy is issued and sent by your doctor. As a patient, you cannot register directly for a consultation/therapy.
