Research Group Prof. Dr. med. Nicole Ochsenbein-Kölble

Main Field of Research, Abstract

The main focus of the group is on physiological and pathophysiological aspects of fetal membranes. Preterm premature rupture of membranes occurs in approximately 1% of all pregnancies and is associated with 30-40% of preterm deliveries. Thus, a major goal is to develop sealing and healing methods for this important problem in obstetrics. Current research projects include mechanical aspects, normal growth, changes near term, genetic polymorphism and healing and sealing with suitable techniques.
