Cost coverage and tariffs

If you are receiving outpatient or inpatient treatment with us, it is advisable to clarify your insurance benefits at an early stage. We will be happy to provide you with information about the expected costs of your planned stay.

Cost coverage by the health insurance company

Your treatment will be billed directly to your health insurance or accident insurance company in accordance with the current tariffs and contracts. We ask you to bring your health insurance card with you on admission.

It is advisable to clarify with your insurance company in advance of your hospital stay whether:

  • the costs of the planned treatment are covered.
  • insurance reservations or exclusions exist.
  • supplementary insurance covers additional benefits.
  • patients residing outside the canton of Zurich have supplementary insurance for the cantonal tariff differential costs.

You can find out more about tariffs for frequent hospital treatment under basic insurance on the website of the price watchdog.

Advance payment in the event of insufficient cost coverage

If your health insurance fund or insurance company does not cover the costs or the cost approval is not high enough, a deposit may have to be paid before admission. The amount depends on the extent of the planned intervention. Our staff in the treating department will be happy to inform you about the estimated costs.

Additional services not covered

Please note that you will be liable for any additional costs incurred if you are not adequately insured. If you have any questions about your insurance, our patient admission department or your health insurance company will be happy to help you.
You will receive a separate, detailed invoice for any extra services not covered, such as telephone costs, visitors’ meals, etc., after you leave.

Patients with a foreign place of residence

Special billing regulations apply to patients residing outside Switzerland. We have summarized these for you on the following page:

Copy of invoice to you

In accordance with the Health Insurance Act, all patients receive a copy of the invoice if it is sent directly to the insurance company. We use your e-mail address registered with us for the electronic transmission of invoice copies. Delivery is made with confirmation of receipt. Please inform us immediately of any changes to your e-mail address. If we do not have your e-mail details, the invoice will be sent to you immediately by post. The digital invoice copies are available for download for 90 days.

If you have any questions or requests for changes to the copy of the invoice, please do not hesitate to contact the patient billing staff.
