FAQ about gynecology

Gynecology means “science of women” – referring to gynecology. The gynecologist deals with the teaching and treatment of diseases of the female reproductive organs. This includes the ovaries, uterus, cervix, vagina and vulva.

In case of acute gynecological complaints (e.g. acute bleeding or pain), you should immediately consult a gynecologist or go to the nearest emergency room. It is important not to ignore your symptoms, as they could indicate serious health problems.

A gynecologist offers a range of screenings, including preventive screenings such as PAP smears, breast exams, sexually transmitted disease screenings, and pregnancy monitoring and menopause management.

Women should have regular gynecological exams, which include cancer screening, starting at age 20. From the age of 30, an HPV test is often recommended in addition to a Pap smear. During this preventive examination, your gynecologist will also palpate your breasts, and women over 50 are recommended to have regular breast examinations by mammography.

A gynecologist is a physician who specializes in women’s health, particularly the health of the female reproductive organs. Colloquially, the gynecologist is also called a gynecologist. The gynecologists in our clinic provide a range of medical services, including screening, diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant diseases and disorders of the female reproductive organs.

For urgent gynecological emergencies outside of your gynecologist’s office hours, you should visit the nearest emergency room. For less urgent matters, you can try to make an appointment with another local gynecologist or wait until your office is open again.
